About Us

The Community Development Department is responsible for:

  • Providing information to the general public on planning and zoning.
  • Reviewing and issuing building permits.
  • Conducting inspections for new construction and ensuring compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and building-related regulations.
  • Preparing and administering contracts for special Community Development-related programs.
  • Coordinating with other City, local, and state departments.
  • Monitoring regional and state activities that impact the City.
  • Ensuring the City's development-related documents comply with state and federal requirements.
  • Providing staff support to the City Manager, City Attorney, Planning Commission, City Council, and the general public.
